About Us
The Readyfield Bloodhounds were first formed in 1980 and are based in Wymeswold, Leicestershire. Peter Boddy established the hunt and the name derives from Readyfield Farm in Caunton - the first home of the Readyfield.
Hounds hunt a clean boot, hunting a runner for anywhere between 10 to 15 miles, followed by mounted riders, over a variety of terrain which can include up to 60 fences, of which most are approx. 3' 6" . We try to ensure that as many meets as possible also cater for the non jumping field. Both the jumping and non jumpers have a dedicated field master.
The country lies in a fifty mile radius of Newark, covering Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire. The meets take place on a Sunday, by invitation of farmers and landowners at some of the most incredible estates and farmland available in the East Midlands.
The hunting year is split into 3 defined parts -
During the summer months we have ambles and children and novice rides. These are ideal social rides and A great opportunity to experience riding out without the hounds.
After that comes hound exercise. This is a superb place to start experiencing a meet at a faster pace than an amble but slower than a full hunt meet but of course with the exhilaration of following the hounds.
Then come the full hunt meets - hounds baying and kicking on!!!!!
So come and join us and experience the thrill of riding out with the Readyfield Bloodhounds!!!
